For industrial use, Inelco Hunter has announced a metal case for its Raspberry Pi and 10.1inch touchscreen kit.

Made from a mixture of steel and aluminium, it is powder coated in one of three standard colours: black, grey or white. Other RAL colours are possible subject to a minimum order.

Outside dimensions are ~260 x 178 x 42mm, with the display glass taking the latter to 47mm. Assembled weight is ~1.12kg.

The rear cover is ~240 x 160mm and includes 75 x 75mm VESA FDMI MIS-D mountings for a monitor arm. Alternatively, the enclosure can be flush-mounted into a surface using four supplied side clamps.

The standard Raspberry Pi 4 connections are brought out to the rear, and a 12Vdc 2.5A power input supplies both the display and the Pi via an included dc-dc converter – a suitable power supply is available as option.

Another option is an audio amplifier with dual speakers that installs inside the case. “A modified rear cover is used with speaker grill,” said the company, for “alarm signals, operator feedback and process control feedback”.

An appropriate Raspberry Pi can also be supplied, as well as the display and its interface, and there is a fully assembled option.

Bought separately or together, the 10.1inch display kit (right) has a 1,280 x 800 IPS (for wide viewing angle) projected capacitance screen measuring 255 x 174 x 9mm (218 x 137mm viewing area).

Connection within the display kit is via an HDMI to LVDS interface PCB, which provides all power, signals and back-light conversion for the TFT display. Power needs are 12V at 2A for the display and 5V at 2A for the Pi, that can be supplied by the dc-dc converter in the enclosure kit, said Inelco Hunter. The touch screen interfaces can be either USB or I2C. Cables and pillars to mount the Raspberry Pi 4 are included.

Inelco Hunter is a component distributor based in Berkshire, UK.
